Woman Yelling At Cat

A furious accusation, met with complete indifference.

One of very few formats where the two halves are not parallel. The left is loud, emotional and specific; the right is calm, brief and unbothered. Matching their tone kills it.

The cat should always win. Whatever the woman is accusing, the cat's reply should make the accusation look disproportionate — one short line, ideally an unarguable fact.

Length is part of the joke. The left caption can be long, even run-on. The right should rarely be more than a handful of words.

Common mistakes

Giving the cat a long rebuttal. Its power is that it barely responds.
Making the woman's accusation reasonable — then she is just right, and the reader sides with her.
Equal-length captions, which flattens the contrast the whole format runs on.
